A few years ago it was all about big sunglasses - the more they covered basically your whole face the better! With Celine's Shadow sunglasses, I am pretty sure you know the ones I am talking about or have atleast seen them as there are so many dupes out there. Don't get me wrong there is absolutely nothing wrong with big sunglasses I myself have those Celine sunglasses, however for the moment ditch them and get your hands on something a bit smaller..
We all know fashion does circles and trends always seem to come back around - jumpsuits, flared trousers, all the items your parents used to wear when they were younger but it's not about that 70s vibe atm it's all about the 90s.
I am a child of the 90s so it sounds weird now to say this but I lived through it and remember the fashion, music, trends, makeup etc of the era (it wasn't even that long ago and I am not even that old) however it seems the trend of 'micro-sunglasses' is back!
Neo from the Matrix seemed to be one of the biggest 'trend setters' of these little Barbie like small sunglasses, I personally haven't even seen the Matrix (guilty) and it actually came out the last year of the 90s (1999) however he still reins as owning the small sunglass look.
Now 19 years later the likes of Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and so many more are rocking the small sunglasses - even at night and even on red carpets might I add!
Kim Kardashian
“[Kanye] sent me a whole email like, ‘You cannot wear big glasses anymore. It’s all about tiny little glasses. He sent me like, millions of ’90s photos with tiny little glasses like this.”
Matrix on the runway
Not only have all the big names in the celeb world been wearing this small sunglass trend, big name designers have also been putting this must have accessory down the runways also. This includes: Mui Mui, Louis Vuitton, Self Portrait, House of Holland, MSGM, Prada and more.
Jennifer Anniston apparently isn't a fan, she herself wore them in the 90s when they were first around and had this to say, “I just think they’re ridiculous,” Aniston told Glamour. “I’m not a fan of those little tiny spectacles; I’m a fan of classic sunglasses. That was very ’90s, wasn’t it? When you would see those little tiny frames, those were brought back from the John Lennon days. They’re always sort of regurgitating trends.”
Well what is your opinion on them? I personally really like them as I think they are fun and something different to quirk up any outfit. I bought myself a cat-eye pair from Le Specs X Adam Selman which I bought for myself for my 21st Birthday, in red because I was feeling a bit more 'daring' then buying the black ones. I literally wore them everyday in Dubai and didn't take them off - my boyfriend initially didn't like them he said they reminded him of a comic book, yet a few days later he fell in love and even put them on for himself. I must admit the ones I bought aren't as small as many out there however I have found some great smaller ones for great prices, which are pictures below, and will be adding them to my basket next!
