Little house on the prairie?

Last post was about bringing the 90s back well this post is about bringing the 1800s back..

So let me take you back to 11th September 1974 - a tv show called Little House on the Prairie came out. I am pretty sure my mum watched it growing up but I also did. The show was set in the 1800s, about a family who lived on a farm, all the daughters wore a smock style dress with florals on and usually a bonnet too. Here I am in 2018 deciding to bring the 1800s back by wearing this floral dress from H&M, which in my eyes very much resembles a dress from Little House on the Prairie.

When I came out wearing this dress my boyfriend literally said and I quote "who are you and where is my girlfriend?" I think it is clear to see he REALLY isn't a big fan! Yet I first saw this dress on @monikh Instagram - she is a fashion blogger and I LOVE her style (check her out). Anyway I have wanted to pull this look off for a long time so was in H&M and decided to try it on - I asked the shop attendant about it as I couldn't find it in store, she went to the stockroom and got it for me as she said it hadn't been put on the shop floor just yet! Well as you can see I bought it.

I realised it is actually really versatile: worn as the dress, with jeans underneath, pleather trousers underneath, tights underneath, dress up with heels, dressed down with sneakers and as I have worn it here, with a turtleneck underneath - layering for winter (I feel very @manrepeller in this outfit - maybe that is why the boyfriend didn't like it so much haha) .

I paired it with socked boots, which I made myself, yes really I made them myself in 1 minute (post coming soon) and a basket bag from Topshop here.

So what is your thought on the Little House on the Prairie dress?
