Here is the finished product of my magazine front cover - it took a bit of tweeking but I am now happy with the final outcome. My magazine theme was festivals as it is a festival magazine meaning it isn't commercial at all much more towards Indie meaning my front cover is much more 'fun' and lively and all about different typography along with a good image!

 

I believe the image I chose is good as it fits the breif great along with being unusual and eyecatching! 

 

My masthead is pretty simple but bold and draws attention - I made sure it was on the first left as when stacked in a shop it is easy to identify it just from the F of Fest. I then placed the names of all the festivals on the third left because that way it doesn't cover too much of the image, making sure you can still see the face whichbis the most important part. Along with that I used a number of different typography, I could get away with this because of it being 'festival' the design fits, my inspiration was a festival lineup which includes different typography and is graphic! 

 

Then there is the name of the cover model right across all thirds as that is the most important part - I chose simple typography so it was bold and easy to read in addition it stands out compared to the mix of the other typography! 

 

I chose black and white as my only colours because they stand out against the cover image and don't take away as the image itself is all about colour! Also adding a background on each typography made sure they were clear to read, see and they stand out!

 

I also added a barcode on the third left, bottom right with the date of issue next to it - they are there and small as they aren't that important and don't have to draw too much attention as the other content should.

 

Overall I am happy with the outcome - the simplicity, the colours, the different typography and the image I believe is the strongest part so that is good!
