MY MAGAZINE TARGET GROUP
These are 'mood boards' of different images I have collected and merged together to show visually my magazine's target audience. The first image is full of photographs from festivals like Reading, Leeds, Coachella, Glastonbury and The Colour Festival - they are all full of life, full of people, music, happiness, colour, fashion etc - that is the feel of my magazine and the people who will read it. The second image is of photographs from the fashion people wear at festivals - these images translate to what I see my target audience as (stylish, fashion conscious and on trend). Eventhough my magazine is a festival music magazine fashion is still an important aspect as it is part of festival culture and another reason people attend festivals so I believe it is important to keep my readers happy and give them what they want along with inspiration!
My target audience is quite Indie/Hipster however they are also festival 'highend' fashion - like the whole idea of sleeping in a tent or teepee, taking polaroid pictures, disposable camera images, flower crowns, shorts, wellies etc. I see my target audience as people who care about their image at a festival - they take time to choose what they will wear and they dress impeccably - coloured hair, glitter, flowers, fringe etc. They take loads of pictures of the atmosphere and their friends, taking in their surroundings and loving it! They share all their images on social media platforms - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr. They stay at the festival for the whole time, sleeping in the tent, making a camp fire at night, drinking, roasting marshmallows, sleeping late and waking up again to enjoy the music, drink more etc.
I want my target audience to feel like they are reading/looking at themselves when they read my magazine - feel inspired by the fashion and photographs they see, feel like they want to attend the festivals written about, get to know the information they wanted to know about the festivals and so on - it has to be a translation of them or else they wouldn't want to read it!
